Video over IP
No doubt you are only too aware of the increasing travel and accommodation costs associated with sending staff around the country and the world for meetings and conferences.
Right now, new technology allows us to install steadfast, reliable software and systems that help you to, among other things, enjoy smooth video conferencing. Other applications you will be able to profit from include Video On Demand (VOD), the real time streaming of audio and visual data, video presentations and interactive video.
We are experienced and highly proficient in designing and implementing the hi-tech, bandwidth-hungry systems infrastructure you'll need to benefit from these exciting technologies.

The Digital World
Traditionally, video has been transmitted through expensive analogue means. Now, the world is digital.
New video compression technology allows composite audio and video to be sent over LANs, WANs and the Internet. Video Over IP and IP Streaming Video are even newer technologies that help you capture, digitise, manage and stream video over IP networks.
Real-time or recorded video is processed, compressed and edited on dedicated servers. From there, the video can be broadcast via networks to several stations for simultaneous viewing. After the special hard- or software is installed, the viewer will need nothing further. Of course, our technical support will still be available.
We can facilitate all 3 main types of video transmission: Video Broadcasting, Video On Demand and full duplex Video Conferencing. And our flexibility allows us to scale the technology to your exact needs.
This is a growth industry. IP is very quickly replacing ISDN video transmission technology. Allow us to cut your costs and help you stay ahead.

Video Broadcast over IP
There are 2 ways of broadcasting video over IP.
- Unicast: the server replicates the transmission for the endpoint viewer.
- Multicast: the same signal is sent to a group of users.
There are 3 basic factors in calculating the bandwidth you'll need when we set up Video Broadcast Over IP for you: the length of your video, the number of users watching it, and their connection speed.
Common corporate applications include the broadcast of speeches and presentations, the provision of training materials, and the documentation of meetings. The education industry benefits too – universities, further education and vocational centres are already using this technology.

Video Conferencing over IP
Videoconferencing is the real time 2-way (duplex) streaming of audio and video between multiple users in any location.
The combination of basic devices (microphones, speakers, cameras and screens) and the IP streaming technology we install for you will enable you, your colleagues and your clients to engage in face to face conversation as if you were in the same room.
Our IP system will allow conferences between any properly equipped PC on your network. You will gain from a new, technologically superior network infrastructure with no need for dedicated lines and usage charges.
We will install and maintain a Multipoint Conference Unit (MCU) at a central location for you. The MCU allows numerous users to view multiple feeds. A Gatekeeper box will control bandwidth, addressing and security for each conference.
Videoconferencing can be point-to-point (one user to one user), or multipoint (multiple users participating in the same session). During your conferences, you will actually be able to collaborate via a common electronic ‘whiteboard' that each user can access and contribute to.
IP Videoconferencing has found many applications: E-learning, training, customer service and telemedicine .

Video On Demand (VOD) over IP
Utilise VOD technology and your users enjoy interactive video – they'll be able to stop, start, fast-forward and rewind the stored material you stream.
With VOD, you'll find it easy to access usage statistics and invoice your users accordingly.
For your VOD Over IP Network, we'll provide and support you in your use of:
-
a video server (1 archive server or a cluster of servers),
-
an application control server to transmit from,
-
an endpoint with a converter to submit the viewing request and control playback,
-
management and billing software,
-
a PC or Network-based device to record and convert video files.
VOD technology allows users to watch material according to their schedule, not the broadcaster's. VOD is perfect for marketing, training, E-learning, entertainment and general broadcasting.
